The 7 Year Old Spy Part 2!

Hi!
Guess what? My Brother and I made another crazy trailer with the app iMovie! And guess what it’s called? ‘THE 7 YEAR OLD SPY PART 2!’

This is the tag line:  ”The second production of this series is jam-packed with hilarious scenes, new characters and out of this world stunts!”

Here’s some reviews: ‘This movie is so much better than the original and the stunts are better!’ The New York Times.  ”This movie is so funny it made me cry!” The Chicago Times.

Now onto the Movie. Peek-a-Bleu Productions Presents, The 7 Year Old Spy Part 2. (Sound effects, clapping)

THIS MOVIE IS NOT RATED.

Was it better than the original? Let me know by commenting below.
I think it was! If you give me some good ideas, I can make a part three.
See you later,
Parker

P.S. The reason there is a LEGO minifigure in one of the first shots is to show what 0007 would look like in LEGO style!

P.P.S. I think I look really funny as 0006! Do you?

State Meet Stats

Hi!
Last weekend I had a swim meet. And it wasn’t just an ordinary swim meet, it was the State Championship Meet! What that means is that all the kids in the STATE come to our pool in Chicago to race and I was one of them! Crazy, right? Another thing is that you had to be fast enough to qualify for this meet, so not everybody could swim. Originally, I had qualified for 11 events, but you are only allowed to swim 6. I had to choose the events in which I would most likely medal and be able to stand on the podium.

That’s the other thing. There was a podium, just like the Olympics! Except the top eight made it, which is even better. I medaled two times, once for my 50 Butterfly where I placed 5th and for my 50 Freestyle where I placed 6th. I am also very proud that my 200 IM was a new team record. Cool, don’t you think?

I was so proud to be standing up there! Next year, when I move up to the 11-12 age group, I am going to try my hardest to make the State cuts! It will be so much harder, but that’s what Coaches and practices are for, right?

Movie Making

Hi!

So, my brother and I made this awesome movie last weekend and I wanted to share it with you guys! The iPad app that we used is iMovie. I loved it because you pick a template and then film your own clips. Have you heard of iMovie?

Without further ado, Peek-a-Bleu Productions presents:

The 7 Year Old Spy!

Funny, right? After all, it does run in the family! PJ was a great spy, and I have to say, the banana stood REALLY still during the production process.

Also, we formed a company called Peek-a-Bleu Productions. I think it is a cool name because both my brother and I have blue eyes. Do YOU think that name is fitting?

Do YOU want to be in our next movie? Send YOUR resume TODAY! Or, do you have any IDEAS for our next film? Comment right HERE on my BLOG!

See you later,

Book Letter #5: Out of My Mind

Hi!
So I have been writing a lot of book letters for the past week and I wanted to share this really good one with you guys! So here it is!

20130223-145000.jpg

I have read a book called ‘Out of My Mind’ by Sharon M. Draper. It is about a girl named Melody. This book takes place mostly in Melody’s house and her school. I do not know in what city or town this book takes place.

Melody has a syndrome called Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy prevents her from walking or talking, but does not effect her mind. For instance, she can’t even go to the bathroom by herself, but she is really good at math and other subjects. She also has a photographic memory, so she remembers almost everything she sees or hears. In the book, Melody describes her mind as ‘a video camera that never stops recording’.

Another important character is Ms. V. She is the neighbor to Melody and her family. When Melody’s parents go somewhere, they leave Melody with Mrs. V. In the middle of the book, she finds out that Melody has found on the Internet (with some help) a voice communicator where she can press buttons and her words are spoken out of a speaker!

When Melody finds her voice, many people are amazed that Melody is actually brilliant! So, her school asks her if she wants to be on the team for the national kid quiz! She accepts and she is so happy!
This book reminds me of another book called Wonder by R.J. Palacio because it is about a boy with a deformed face and his experiences going to school and getting teased. But, fortunately, BOTH of these books end well.

This books reminds me of real life because if I knew someone like Melody, I would help him/her physically and support him/her mentally like one of the characters in this book. I would not only help them get around, but I would also encourage them to do things that other people might not think they could do and help build their confidence.

This book relates to my life because if I had a debilitating disease, I would say to myself, ‘just because I can’t move or talk doesn’t mean I can’t do great things like every other person in this world.’ I would do what people thought was impossible.

My favorite part of this book is when Melody got her voice communicator and talked to her parents for the first time. It was really emotional. I’ve got to say, this book is really touching and I could really imagine myself in Melody’s place.

Sounds like a great book, right? I think it was really good and all of you, adults or kids should definitely read it. Do you know anybody who has a story like this? I don’t, but maybe you do!

My Swim Meet

Hi!

So last weekend I went to a swim meet at my home pool! It is always fun to have a meet at your own pool because you are used to swimming there and you know your way around.

the pool that I swim in!

Fisheye Picture

The events that I swam were 200 Freestyle and  500 Freestyle. Before last weekend, I had not swam those events before, so it was really fun! Also, there was a parent who was taking really cool shots of the swimmers and the pool and he got some of me racing! So I thought it would be fun to show you the pictures!

Swimming my events!

More Swimming!

Awesome pics, right? It is also good for me to see the pictures or videos as I can see if I did something wrong and it helps me improve my stroke! But, if you don’t have a video, coaches are practically the same! :) They always give us great feedback after a race. I love all my coaches, they are the best!

Anyway, in my 200 free, something crazy happened! When I was putting on my cap and goggles I tried a new technique of putting my goggles under my cap. Well, when I dove in the water, my goggles FELL OFF! But, even though they were not on my head, I still opened my eyes. I ended up making the State Qualifying Time! Funny thing, on one of my brother’s races, his goggles fell off too! Crazy, right?

So, my 500 free was one of the last events and I ended up having to wait over 2 hours in between! I was a little nervous because it was an open race which means it was boys, girls and ages 10 to 19. Even though I raced older kids, I came in 3rd in my heat. And, I made the State cut and on top of that, I made the 9/10 TEAM RECORD! Twenty laps wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be so I am glad I did it.

So State is coming up and now I have 11 cuts! But unfortunately, I can only swim nine of them. Boo Hoo. I cannot wait for that meet because kids from the WHOLE STATE are coming to MY team pool for the championships! Wish me good luck!

I have to go to practice, so I will write again soon!

Bye,

Parker

Book Letter #4: Puzzlers Mansion

Hi!
So I just read another great book and wrote a book letter about it. I think you should read this book because it has a great plot, and a lot of mystery. Here goes!

Puzzler's Mansion Cover by Eric Berlin

I have read a book called The Puzzler’s Mansion by Eric Berlin. This book takes place mostly in a big, fancy mansion with lots of rooms and other cool things. The book is about a high school boy named Winston Breen who loves to solve puzzles. He is a sweet and intelligent boy.

Since he is solving and making up puzzles in his head, he is not focusing on his school work. So, his parents ground him from puzzles, but not before he is invited to a party hosted by a famous musician named Richard Overton with his friends Mal and Jake, and his other friend Mr. Penrose. Mal is a funny guy who likes to sleep a lot and Jake is smart, but the book does not say a lot about him.

So after everybody gets to Richard Overton’s mansion, they start solving puzzles in the house, and if they solve it, they win a prize. The clues could be really hard to find or they could be hidden in plain sight! One of the people who won the first round received a very valuable signed copy of a program from a concert! When everybody woke up the next morning, it was gone! But, the rest of the puzzles still go on, while everybody is trying to find out who stole the program too!

This book reminds me of the Encyclopedia Brown books because of all the mystery and drama just like this book! Also, this book reminds me of myself because I love puzzles and solving mysteries just like Winston, the main character. The Puzzlers Mansion is like the real world because this could happen!

I love how the author put the puzzles into the book so you could actually solve them. I took a couple minutes to look at all of them and they were challenging!

Sounds like a good book, right? I think it was. By the way, do you know any famous musicians like Richard Overton? Do you know any classical music? If so, then you should tell me by going to the comments section and writing me their name or their pieces!

Ciao,
Parker

New Year, New Post!

Hi,
So, I have been really busy the last few weeks and I haven’t had much time to write a post so I’ll just say it now: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Well, for me that feels like a long time ago, because there has been so much going on with school and swimming practice! Let me start at the beginning.

CWAC Logo

Last weekend was crazy. On Saturday and Sunday, I went to a swim meet at Stagg High School. The events that I had to swim were: 50 Butterfly, 50 Backstroke, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle, 100 IM, and 100 Freestyle. A lot of events, right? But here’s the good news. I improved on all, but one of my times. After being disappointed on my performance for the first race, I pulled myself together. I made the State cut for my 50 Fly. That means I go to the State meet in March. The qualifying time was 34.29 and I got a 33.74. Pretty good, right? On most of my other times, I am not even a second away from qualifying for State. My coach told me to “feel the burn and love the pain” when training. He also told me he would help me make those State times. I think that is great advice. What about you?

Now, on to other things. I started school last Monday and we got straight to business. We started cursive the day we got back, we’re starting Book Clubs and other things. Also, for my Spanish class I had to make a creative map about Latino’s and Latina’s in the U.S.A. I’ve got to say, it was pretty fun to do. Our class had to use recycled products instead of buying all of the materials. I finished mine of couple days ago.

It was very interesting to learn about how much smaller the United States would be if Mexico had won the war of 1848. At the end of war Mexico lost nearly half of it’s territory and it was a big event for the history of the US. Can you imagine the US without California, Texas, Nevada and all of the other states in the Southwest? I can’t!

My 10th Birthday!

Hi! So this is my first post on my blog where I am officially 10 years old! This year, my birthday was really special because it was on 12/12/12!  Did you know that this kind of birthday will not happen in another 1000 years. Cool, right? If I was born 2 years earlier, I would have turned 12 on Dec. 12th 2012.  I am still excited to be double digits. But, my dad told me that someone was born on 12/12/12 at 12:12 am. That is even cooler!

As a birthday present, my dad drew a sketch of me as a newborn. Compared to the photo, I think it looks just like me! I also got a bunch of lottery tickets and candy. Guess what? I won $10 on my very FIRST TRY! I think it is hard to believe. It must be good luck to win $10 on my 10th birthday!

November 20122

But, my birthday celebration started early when my Grandma (Greeny) came into town. Greeny let me open my gift early. She bought me an awesome LEGO Lord of the Rings set! I built it in an hour and a half. I love it.

Then, we all went to Symphony Hall to see the orchestra. They played some really exciting songs like Beethoven Symphony No. 5 and the conductor talked to us about the history of the music. After that, we went out to lunch and the waitress surprised us with 2 cakes because both Greeny & I were celebrating our birthdays! (By the way, the cake was delicious!)

On Sunday, our friends Jesse and Patty came over. They bought me a Wii U for my birthday! The new remote is the best Wii controller I have ever used. There are a lot of new buttons and games that are made just for it! We played for most of the afternoon.

Later, we all went to Dave and Busters with my friend Harry. When we got there, we spotted a gigantic banana hanging on the wall! We said to each other “‘Let’s win that Banana!”. We went to the prize booth and asked, “How much is that Banana?’. Turns out, it was 3200 points.

After our long day there, we ended up with only 3090 points. Bummer, no banana. We were about to walk away. Then on a whim, Jesse & PJ used their last token to spin the wheel and hit the jackpot.  All of  sudden the sirens went off and 500 tickets spit out. We were so happy; we left with the banana!

My 10th Bday

Well, overall, I had a great 10th birthday! Thanks for all the presents from my friends and family! I really love them all. Now, we only have 10 more days till Christmas. Wow, December is always a really busy month for us.

So, I am going to go play with all my presents and think about what I will give to people for Christmas.

See you later,

Parker (Who is now 10!!!!)

Our Ancona Photoshoot

Hi!

So, last year at school, my brother, me and some other kids from our school were chosen to be a part of the new marketing campaign. I was so excited they wanted me to do it!  It went really well and I had a ton of fun.

When the photographers originally took the photos, we were just standing in front of a white screen. I thought it was awesome that they added the cool backgrounds. The photos have been all over Hyde Park on lamp posts and bus stops for a few months. Cool, right? They just sent us the proofs so I wanted to share!

Have you ever modeled?  I was a little nervous at first, but the people were very nice, so in the end it was awesome.  The other cool thing was the gigantic snack table.  Ha Ha! Here is a link to our website if you want to learn more about our amazingschool!

My First Orchestra!

Hi! So yesterday we went to the Orchestra at Symphony Hall downtown as a weekend treat. The show was called Hallowed Haunts. They played lots of scary classical music to the audience for Halloween. But, it was not just a regular orchestra, it was the Orchestra of DOOM!!   This is me and my brother in the front of the hall.

The inside of the hall was cool too. It had a big dome up high on the roof  so the sound was awesome!

When the musicians came out, they all looked like zombies and were walking like them too! It was a little creepy. The music was great, but they also wove a little skit into the program to keep the kids involved. It was about a woman bassoonist who liked to play happy songs but, the conductor did not think that bassoonists in the Orchestra of DOOM should play cheerful tunes. So, he took her bassoon away and fired her. She tried to grab the bassoon, but the conductor controlled her with the evil metronome!! Finally, she got her bassoon back and the Orchestra played a happy song.

“Thank you Greeny for the tickets to this amazing show! I really loved it.”

Have you ever been to an Orchestra?

See you later,

Parker
