New Year, New Post!

Hi,
So, I have been really busy the last few weeks and I haven’t had much time to write a post so I’ll just say it now: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Well, for me that feels like a long time ago, because there has been so much going on with school and swimming practice! Let me start at the beginning.

Last weekend was crazy. On Saturday and Sunday, I went to a swim meet at Stagg High School. The events that I had to swim were: 50 Butterfly, 50 Backstroke, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle, 100 IM, and 100 Freestyle. A lot of events, right? But here’s the good news. I improved on all, but one of my times. After being disappointed on my performance for the first race, I pulled myself together. I made the State cut for my 50 Fly. That means I go to the State meet in March. The qualifying time was 34.29 and I got a 33.74. Pretty good, right? On most of my other times, I am not even a second away from qualifying for State. My coach told me to “feel the burn and love the pain” when training. He also told me he would help me make those State times. I think that is great advice. What about you?

Now, on to other things. I started school last Monday and we got straight to business. We started cursive the day we got back, we’re starting Book Clubs and other things. Also, for my Spanish class I had to make a creative map about Latino’s and Latina’s in the U.S.A. I’ve got to say, it was pretty fun to do. Our class had to use recycled products instead of buying all of the materials. I finished mine of couple days ago.

It was very interesting to learn about how much smaller the United States would be if Mexico had won the war of 1848. At the end of war Mexico lost nearly half of it’s territory and it was a big event for the history of the US. Can you imagine the US without California, Texas, Nevada and all of the other states in the Southwest? I can’t!

These are the photos of “Mi Mapa Creativo”. I love it!

I am excited to see what we will do next!

Adios,
