The Hunger Games Book Letter

Hi you guys, I am trying something new this time. At my school, almost every week we have to write a book letter. It is about a fictional or non-fiction book that we have read or are reading. Here is one of my latest book letters!

WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW THE END OF THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!

I have read a book called The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. It is about a girl named Katniss, (which is also a flower) and a boy named Peeta. The setting is one hundred years into the future and North America is divided into twelve districts.
Katniss and Peeta live in the Twelfth District: all the people there do mining when they are old enough. The people in the twelve districts do different things: District Eight does fruit picking, District Four does fishing, it really all depends on the setting. In District Twelve, there is not a lot of food and most of the people are hungry. The ground is mostly covered in ash.

So, the problem is that every year the Capitol hosts a terrifying and brutal event called The Hunger Games, which is a battle where two people from each district fight to the death and the winner becomes rich and famous. So this year, Katniss and Peeta get chosen to go to The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is controlled by the Gamemakers. They are people who design the arena for the games activate the traps for the tributes, they basically control the arena. They make the arena different every year.

My favorite part of the book is when Katniss cuts down a tree with poisonous bees in them and kills a lot of tributes (people in the arena) but she gets hurt by the bees too! This book relates to my life because I would NOT want to go in that arena like Katniss and Peeta did, but if I had to, I would fight to come back to my family.

This book reminds me of The Last Apprentice series by Joseph Delaney, because there are many battles and The Spook, also known as Mr. Gregory and his apprentice Tom Ward have to battle strange creatures and monsters.

Have YOU read The Hunger Games? What was your favorite part of the story?
Sincerely,

Parker
